Every great story begins with, what if?

Ours began with: What if two planners, both in love with the color blue, accidentally stumbled into each other’s lives and realized God had been stiching their story together all along?

It started at a dinner party. Friends had been plotting this introduction, but travel and timing kept getting in the way. Finally, the night came. He walked in. She spotted him and had him cornered in the kitchen, firing off questions like an eager reporter. He thought, “Intense…but pretty cute.” She thought, “Closed off…but wait—watches? Okay, now we’re talking.”

There were sparks—small ones at first, like the flicker of a match. But then came the moments that felt different. A Passover dinner. A wave goodnight in a parking lot. A first date planned with intentionality that said, “I see you. I care.” That’s when the flame started to glow.

From there, their story unfolded in scenes that could have been straight out of a Pixar short:

• Dancing under Oklahoma stars after meeting family for the first time.

• Eating snacks on top of a parking garage while the sun painted the sky.

• Driving until hunger hit and stumbling into a little country diner.

• Making candles for each other before a long trip, so distance would smell a little less lonely.

Somewhere between the sunsets, prayers before bed, clean-kitchen nights, and long drives with music turned up, it became clear: this wasn’t just a story. This was their story.

Then came the proposal—every film has its big, sweeping adventure moment. For them, it was blue. Their favorite color, their secret motif. A blue dress. A blue helicopter. A ride through the sky retracing the places that had become sacred. And finally, a bridge—their bridge. The one from their very first date, now closed off and waiting for just them.

With friends hidden at both ends, an X marking the spot, and a heart pounding like the soundtrack to the climactic scene, he got down on one knee. She burst into sweet tears, hugged him so fast she nearly forgot the ring, and then remembered: Oh right. The sparkly part.

But the real sparkle was never the diamond. It was the peace. The deep, steady, God-given peace that said: This is the plan. This is home.

Now, they’re dreaming big—about ranches filled with discipleship, traveling the world hand-in-hand, sharing pasta (their first meal and their engagement night meal), and chasing sunsets forever.
